Hi,

My credit card and my host are from the very same country, but the site is charging me in a currency from another country. And charging me for that. How can I change the currency for the local one and avoid paying fees?

You cannot.  Credit cards are not based on location, they are based on the human to which they are assigned.  If you live the United States, you will be charged in US dollars regardless of where you are in the world.  Airbnb does convert every transaction to the currency of the human guest.  https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/money/card-fees
