Payments

I am a new Airbnb Host and a member is consistently asking me if he can pay via cash.

I am not sure how this will work.

@Tanvee0 Tell this guest that you abide by Airbnb's Terms of Service and that you don't accept cash payments.  If you were to accept cash and anything goes wrong, Airbnb cannot and will not protect you.  If the guest persists, flag their message so Airbnb can review.
Decline!

Initially he did not want to pay because he said he is from Ukraine, "during last 2 years our Ukrainian currency has decreased 3 times. That’s why each possible saved EUR has a big impact for our travel budget 🙂 Some small gifts from Ukraine will be prepared for you 🙂" I seriously think I am in a soup. I accepted his request, and he claims that he has made a payment online. However, bookings of the guests arriving after him, shows Confirmed (green colour) and his booking is still shown as an Enquiry (grey colour) in my Host Calendar on AirBnB.

I want to cancel his booking because he seems agressive but i dont want to pay any penalties for that. He has zero guest reviews, I cannot tell if he is reliable or not.

What to do??

@Tanvee0 You can decline an inquiry without any penalty.  Go ahead and decline this inquiry.

@Tanvee0

Potential scammers target new hosts.

@Tanvee0

If he has not paid online and there is no booking confirmation, there is no booking and consequently nothing to cancel.  You are not in any pickle unless you have given out any personal info so that he is able to find you. Decline and go on. If he persists pestering you, you would need to contact airbnb and have him blocked/removed.

@Tanvee0 you should decline the request and certainly never agree to accept cash from a guest. There is no financial relationship between you and a guest, it is all handled through AirBnB and is designed to protect both parties. Whilst you might be sympathetic that the currency in Ukraine has devalued, that is actually none of your concern unless in your spare time you also happen to be the Ukrainian Finance Minister!

Thank you lovely ladies, I called AirBnb and spoke to their customer service agent, explained everything and expressed that I do not feel comfortable to host this guest anymore. They agreed to cancel the booking and contacted that guest explaining him the payment policies of AirBnb.
