Position in the map of the ads - Unfair competition and immobility of Airbnb to solve

Hi everyone from Italy!

In the area where I rent some houses I found few apartments placed in a very incorrect positions, more than 5 km and sometimes even more. The error is easy to note not only because of the pictures but also the descriptions of the ads and few times the reviews of guests who complain.

I informed Airbnb about these mistakes from about one year. Nothing has changed and they said that for the rules of Airbnb is enough that the town is correct and the rest is not considered. Maybe this works in the mountain villages of four houses or in the town of the Smurfs, but in all the cities I know is totally ridiculous!

Place an house next to the Colosseum in Rome if in fact it is 5 km away, I think It is clear for all that is an unfair competition. This also harms the entire community because unhappy guests hardly will book again on Airbnb.

Surely many of us are not companies with employees and VAT, but we all work to please the guests, to have a good ad and to try to get the best performance. Each in his own way. Many of us use the money raised to support his family, for those little extra things maybe, but I do not think that many people use this money to coat of gold the bathtub or to throw them in the fireplace of the doghouse.

Allowing to place the ad in the map where it is most useful, allowing this clear unfair competition, there is no doubt that this offends the work of all of us. Certainly this also does not respect the guests who expect a correct position in the map.

I work with many brokers on-line and all they are very interested in the veracity of the position of the ads and they intervene immediately to correct. In your opinion, on booking.com an hotel owner may accept another hotel positioned beside if it is located 5 km away? And on tripadvisor a restaurant? Maybe the work on Airbnb has so little value and do not worth having a correct map?

I do not think that reviews are enough to avoid these errors. Even the brokers above named and many others think are not enough! In fact I can put an house next to the Colosseum, enjoy the visibility and then write that it is 1,2,3 or 5 Km away.

I'm sure that the incorrect ads probably are very few but I am equally sure that we should expect more fair rules in respect of our work and of the guests.

I would like to know what you think about, if it happens only in Italy or just in my area.

I have the same issue... In Caribbean... Multiple listing for the same villa, pinned on my villa!!! FRUSTRATING

@Francesco192 @Luca691 This is happening in my area as well. A house a quarter-mile further from town than mine appears in town even though my listing is closer. But what's worse for me is since the new update, if you search my listing by my city, the cutoff is less than a 1/4 mile before my listing, so we don't appear on the listing anymore. The only way to get to my listing is to zoom out on the map. My searches are down by about 200 per week, and I now have openings during the peak season. I have notified Airbnb, I'm not hopeful. I did try to change my location setting from the exact location to see if I could get my listing to appear, but it remains outside the new Airbnb cutoff of my city. When you search my city, more listings from the neighboring city appear over my city.
