Possible scam

I’ve had someone ring me directly to book a room. When I directed him to Airbnb he said he would call me later. Called on a withheld number so I didn’t pick up. Then he text me asking to ring him. Wouldn’t give me a name when asked and wanted to book with me direct. When I said he had to go through Airbnb, I haven’t heard from him since.

I would not have called him. 

You gave him the correct response though.

This may have been someone hoping to do Airbnb out of their fee or it could have been something worse.
