Possible scam?

Hi,

I have been emailing with one "airbnb host". My question is: is this viable? Found the ad on craiglist. It came from e-mail irene_marflar@gmx.com. Do you have any expperience with this? This is the last e-mail I got:

The price per month is CZK10000 + CZK20000 refundable deposit including all Utilities Parking .(water, heating, electricity, Internet, TV license fees, etc.)
I am in Italy and this is the reason why I have requested to rent the property through the company Airbnb.
They guarantee a safe transaction. I travel a lot and am not there now to close the transaction in person.

Here is how the Airbnb process works:
 
- I register the transaction with Airbnb
- You submit deposit to Airbnb company
- You will meet an Airbnb agent and inspect the apartment
- You approve the property, sign the contract and move in
- Airbnb releases payment to me
 
If you decide not to rent the apartment, Airbnb will give your money back in 24 hours

What you describe is a huge scam, don't do it!! Airbnb will never exchange money outside of their platform and you will never meet an Airbnb agent or sign a contract. If you do any of those things you WILL loose your money!

@Emilia42 But in email she is writing that i will send the deposit to airbnb via credit card. How can she scam me if I do send that via AirBnB?

@Olí0 This is simply not how Airbnb operates. Those directions resemble nothing similar to what should happen when making a reservation. I would continue the search if I were you.

Is this person asking you to book directly through Airbnb? Why are you communicating outside of Airbnb? Plug in your dates and book it. Don't do anything from a link that someone sends you.

Please let me explain in a few words how we can complete this deal through Airbnb.

- First thing you need to have  the funds available to complete this deal through Airbnb. $500.00 the rent for first month  and also I'm asking a security deposit of $500.00 ( the money will stay on Airbnb and you will have it back in the same day when you will leave the apartment ). So you need $1,000.00 to move in this apartment.

- Now if you want to move forward I need some details from you so I can register this contract through Airbnb :

* your complete name;

* the date when you want to move 

* the period of time you want to rent the apartment

* how many people will live in the apartment;

* phone number;

* a copy of your ID to sign the contract through Airbnb.(optional)

- After I will receive your details I will initiate this rental through Airbnb and they will send the contract, via email.

  Once everything it's done you will meet with the Airbnb agent and he will show you the apartment,give you the keys and sign the final contract. You will have a 3 days period to inspect this apartment. If don't like it, they will refund your money back in 24 hours directly into your bank account. Again, payment will be handled by Airbnb and they will release the funds to me only after you agree to rent the apartment.

Hi there 

I think I have been scamed here. I found an apartment in UNIPLACES for Lisbon and the guy sent an email showing me airbnb link (i can't show the links here). I went there and booked the apartment and sent the money to Madrid as written the guy is the manager. I sent EU 1200. But I didn't find any confirmation from airbnb so I was not feeling ok. So I checked the links again and found this.

They are still showing me a reservation and the host phone number (+34643552317) I can't reach on whatsapp. The guy is using the same email address (pabloriva2122@gmail.com) to post adds on UNIPLACES and AIRBNB . I have contacted the bank in Madrid and asked them to stop the transaction as the account holder is a scammer.

I have also reported to spanish police and to interpol. Please be careful with the scammer on these booking sites. If anyone know this guy please tell him that God will not spare him with this fraud.
