Postpone the booking

Postpone the booking

Dear all,

We have recently joined airbnb and I woud appreciate some advice on the following case:

Our guest sent a message the day before his arrival that he got sick and he cannot come. He also asked if he could postpone his booking for a later date although he was not sure about the exact dates.

Since we have a strict cancellation policy and, as per our understanding, there is no such postponement airbnb policy we proposed, as a courtesy, to make him a very good offer when he decides to book again subject, of course, to availability. In addition to that we asked him to cancel his reservation.

Our guest said that he will proceed with cancelation but insisted to be reimbursed for the 50% of his booking.

However, he did not actually canceled his booking. We are, therefore, wondering if he is entitled to write a review and if he does, although he never stayed in our aparmtnet, if there is a way to remove a likely bad review.

Thank you,

Evi & Alexandros

As far as I know, guests who do not check-in cannot leave a review.  Technically they can because the system does not know better, but if they do, you can contact airbnb and have the review removed.

As it stands now, he still has a contract with you and can show up and claim to stay.  If he stays he can of course leave a review and it may not be positive.

He can also show up, find some minor issue with your place, contact airbnb telling the place was not according to description. In most cases airbnb side with the guest and issue a full refund.

The big question now is - do you really want this guest ? Or is it now a thing of the past and he left a review ? There is no listing on your profile.
