Pre payment taken

So, I booked a property and it asked for my details to pay upfront before booking, then I requested to book. I then cancelled the request before my offer was confirmed by the host, which this states if this is done you will not be charged. But I checked my bank statement and the payment is pending and been taken from my available balance. I don't understand? It hasn't shown in my PayPal as the payment has been taken, but like I say, my bank statement shows it is pending and taken from my available credit? Have they taken my money?

@Carrie125it is possible that the transaction will show as "Pending" but never be completed.

It is also possible that you might be charged but then refunded.

When things happen fast (book / cancel), it can be hard to predict how the banks / payment systems will handle it.

In the end, though, you should have your money back.
