Problem with a host

So, I sent to my AirBnB booked in Playa del Carmen and my host was not there but he assured me that if he was not there, his Uncle would be there to help me get situated. When I arrived, the Uncle actually seemed bothered that he had to waste his time dealing with helping me. I then walked into the room and there was water all over the floor. In addition, I could not hook up to the internet. I called my Host and he apologized and came over. He the said the water on the floor was due to leaks he could see from the wall.....also the window. He made no apologies and just expected me to accept this problem. I told him about his rude Unlce whom I had approached a second time and who 'blew me off' saying that he had nothing to do with the rental. That was his nephew's problem. He then refused to offer any help.

This is the third problem in a row I have had with airbnb bookings. I am sort of sick and tired of this problem and the absence of any GOOD customer service with AirBnb which obviously does not want to have GOOD customer service because they make it difficult for you to reach them. The last time I talked with these people, they wanted ME to resolve the problem.

I am NOW giving AirBnB negative reviews to friends, family members, acquainatnces. I mean....AirBnb makes a fortune but REFUSES to offer a CALL CENTER to deal with complaints!!!!!! WOW. Talk about GREED!!!!

AirBnB needs to have some approach to screening Hosts...because ( and I have said this before), a lot of the LIE about their places. And may of those who stay there are reticient to point out problems. Of course, who knows how many problems and complaints AirBnB has???? Many tens of thousands daily.

YOUR SYSTEM IF FAILING. Your Website often DOES NOT WORK!!!! You need a complete REDESIGN of your site to make it more practical.....and deal with issues of: Noise, Absence of basic necessities at places, hosts who don't care.

In my case, two of my hosts PAID me NOT to receive negative reviews....I think this probably happens all the time. I was just paid by my host yesterday here in Playa del Carmen. I have to be honest and say that most of the problems are associated with the local population trying to make money .....and believe me....they often are insensitive to one's complaints.

In my case, my host NEVER apologized....and thought his explanation for his Uncle and the Water in my Room, etc. were sufficient....and I should just make the best of the situation.

I had to find another place quica dn spent twice as much money.

Hey AirBnB....YOU GUYS are NOT DOING YOUR JOB!!!!!

Either improve....or I am never going to use your service again.

The thing to do in such cases is to contact airbnb for a cancellation and refund and move out.

@Mike493  There is a call center. Contact info is pinned at the top of these help pages. The phone numbers are also found easily with a Google search.

What are your search criteria when you are booking a place? Do you look at the hosts' reviews from past guests? Do you look for Superhosts? Or do you just try to book the cheapest place? Not accusing you of this, I have no idea, but there are ways to find better managed places on airbnb.

And accepting money from bad hosts with terrible accommodations to not write a bad review is not only against all airbnb policy, but by not reviewing honestly, you are just allowing these people to continue to get bookings which suck other potential guests in, so you are, in fact, part of the problem, can you not see that? If you would like to be warned about bad scenes through looking at the reviews, why wouldn't you do the same for others? A host who is consistently marked down and flagged will be delisted by airbnb.

Also, this is a forum where hosts and guests exchange information. Your complaints should be sent directly to airbnb.
