I'm not understanding why my overall rating is 4.9 but is followed by only one star. Can anyone explain? Thanks

No need to worry - you have five stars showing! With the exception of value where it's 4.5 - I wouldn't worry about that however.
You mean in your Ratings in your Stats section, @Thomas387? It is just the way they indicate that the 4.9 is a star rating and not something else. There it is just an icon. I can see why it is confusing, though. Everywhere else you are shown ***** and there it is *.
Nothing to worry about at all. You are doing wonderfully well!
Thank you for your response and reassurance. Following a very busy autumn, I haven't received any reservations. Concern was raised regarding my listing and what prospective guests were viewing.
My regards.

I have actually had a guest mark me low score for the size of my house when the size of the house is in the listing!!! 850 square feet. Can you get much plainer than that!??? And AirBnB refuses to take it off. I have had similar as well, clearly marked and AirBnB refused to stand behind the host who provide the homes for them to make money from.
And I have it at the beginnings of the rules and requirement to book, to read the listing fully.
In my experience very few guests read the description. I have a very extensive description in my listing and yet I keep being asked about things that are very clearly indicated and explained. Probably the less you write the better and let them be awed when they do arrive. 😄 They're going to ask anyway.
Can anyone explain why my overall rating with 3 properties does not move up from 4.8 when I had 5 starts ratings from the last 6 bookings , two for each property ..... but I'm sure it wen down inmediately previously when I had a 4 star rating . Thanks Maria
I have been on 4.7 all of this year even though I have 22 five star ratings since middle of December.
I am sure my ratings used to move up and down very regularly before.
I have enquired with customer service various times and received different responses. At first they agreed it was odd and should change, then I am told it only updates quarterly and I am well on track for Superhost. Quarterly comes and goes and the 4.7 doesn’t change.
I email again and I am told to wait again til next Superhost and no proper explanation as to why the 4.7 never budges but they suggested I post on community and send them feedback!
