Rebooking a cancellation

Hi I had a guest who thought she had double booked through Airbnb and Tripdvisor.

There was no booking with tripasdvisor and no confirmation but in panic she canceeled the Airbnb booking. She now wishes to rebook through Airbnb for the same dates ( 5 months from now).

I ahve a strict cancellation po;icy which has charged her a 50 % cancellation fee....I am extremely happy to refund the full amount although I have not been paid the funds from Airbnb ( I am guessing it is paid in January when the booking was scheduled)

Does any one have any idea how I go about it?

Very best regards

Sally

It's not you who needs to do anything in this situation it is the guest.

You can't refund the guest as you haven't been paid.

Personally for me a guest who acts like this sounds rather flakey so would send up red flags.

How can you not know whether you have booked something to the extent that you incur severe financial penalties.

Message the guest to say you are happy for the booking to be reinstated if that is something she can sort out with Airbnb and leave her to it (if you want her as a guest).

Sally: The cleanest way is to give her a full refund and have her re-book, IF you feel her story is true and not worried about re-booking someone else within 5 months. The nicest people can be quite flaky. 😉

@Sally188 you can refund the remaining 50%, it will just be deducted from your future payout when she is scheduled to stay.

For example, if the remaining 50% is $100, that means that you are supposed to receive $100 payout when she is scheduled to check-in. If you refund her, it will be $0 instead of $100 = a wash. I hope this makes sense.
