Reimbursement due to extenuating circumstances

Is anyone familiar with Air BnB’s refunding for extenuating circumstances preventing you from staying at your booked Air BnB? I guess it would be like traveler’s insurance. Are there any circumstances Air BnB won’t reimburse for? Does it matter if flying is not a part of your trip to your Air BnB? Is there a cap of how much they’ll reimburse? Thanks for any input.

It is not like travel insurance at all @Erin205 .  All Extenuating Circumstances does is allow you to cancel penalty-free for your Airbnb stay if you qualify under the outlined conditions and follow the steps to be refunded for your stay.  This policy applies to both hosts and guests.  The amount you paid for your Airbnb accommodations is all you'll get back if you qualify.

If you want a refund for things that Airbnb cannot control - like your flight or car rental - you need travel insurance for those things.

And yes, there are PLENTY of things that might occur that will not qualify you to be refunded your accommodation fees.

Thanks for clarifying.

What Air BnB must understand is that everyone must be accountable for their investments. When you travel, things happen sometimes, most often than not the issues are real sometimes they are not, like in the case of a "extenuating circumstantial" cancellation I had last year, and they ended up going and booking my friend Fernando's apt. because it was $75 cheaper! Often times guests have doctor friends who will write a note for them, sadly this is a FACT  My HOA's in this building are $1100 I need to make enough to cover this plus extra. On top of this we have had several special assessments, the earliest four months ago,for $25k.
Why is that only the guest is valuable enough to not be made responsible for ANYTHING? I've been invited to joinf Air BnB Aplus for my PR 2bedroom 2 bathroom ESJ Towers at MARE property, but frankly,I'm thinking to take all my 11 apts off,I have taken some off already as the owners where fed up with this policy and are now doing well with Booking VRBO and Expedia, where we control the cancellations and are able to tell guests to buy travel insurance.
Please forward this to the right dept.before I find that renting through you is a bad business idea.
Sincerely
