Review for someone who cancelled

Hi, can someone give a little advice, please?

I had a request for a booking, I accepted, it was confirmed, but a few moments later, she cancelled.  However, I'm now being asked by Airbnb to review this no-show!

In all honesty, how on earth do I review someone I never met?  How do I award stars for cleanliness, adherence to house rules, etc.?  The written review, (which I could just fill in as 'guest cancelled') is fine, but I can't submit the entire review without filling in the stars section.  I contacted customer service, but just got the standard 'Reviews are important, blah, blah', but no actual advice.

Has anyone else faced this situation?  How did you deal with it.

Thanks,

Carol

This is an automated prompt based on the criteria that if a reservation is cancelled within 24 hours of check in.  You could choose to not review.  There are situations for both host and guest that a review would be helpful in the review system, but many host believe this criteria is not a good one.

Yes, I asked the same question to an Airbnb rep this morning. Due to bad weather and a road collapsing, I have had two cancellations this January and refunded my guests 100% as it wasn't their fault they couldn't get here! Being asked to do a review, I would review the guests on their communication as it was really good, but as you say, how can you remark on anything else. I think they need to update this page so that you can make a written review before doing the stars. As it stands, I now have two 'reminders' to review two guests, but I can't! Celia in Ucluelet, BC
