I had guests thatvleft food out, it's Africa ..and one grew up here in this neighbourhood.... they left food out constantly which atteacted ants, as it will, there were ins3ct retardents and killers available, but food will bring them. As a result i was given a poor review for cleanliness of the kitchen..
....in Canada they would have had bears.
Some people do not understand they create their problems themself. Try as much to locate the source (nests) and try to control the ant pest. Warn guests not to leave food uncovered. That's all you can do. Give a professional comment on their review.
BTW I think these guests will be more carefull with food when bears are showing up..... ;>)
best regards,
Emiel
your guest didn't mention cleanliness in his review but you mentioned he rated you low for it in your answer to his review. Why ? Next time if guest mention something in his private review you can answer him on your message thread, not publicly.
Look, common sense is rare nowadays. We can warn them, instruct them, put notes all over the place, write everything in our listing descriptions and hose rules ... but if people don't think, don't read and forget everything we told them then it is useless. I've told that before and will tell again - I often feel like a big mom who cares about a bunch of kids.... and then get criticized by teenagers.
ps
Leave a sandwich on the plate and take a photo after an hour when it gets covered with ants and insects. Then frame it and hang it on the kitchen wall with a text: WARNING! Do not leave food arround! Bon appétit !
🙂
@Lynda146, I suggest to put special stress about leaving food and eating in the bedroom into your house rules. As for me I even say that there will be extra fee for fumigating the room if they eat there.
@Lynda146 I had to laugh. A friend of mine who has come to stay with me here in Mexico a couple of times was telling another friend when she got back to Canada about all the insects here- ants, scorpions, and these crazy scary looking bugs called whip-tail scorpions (which aren't scorpions at all, and are harmless) and this other person said "How can Sarah live there with all those things?'" My friend replied "Yeah, and we have bears and cougars", which was met with a stunned silence. It's all a matter of what you get used to dealing with.
