If someone has been a member of airbnb for several years, say 4, and has no reviews, is that a bad sign?

@Melanie11  the quickest and easiest thing to do is ask the guest 🙂

I have this very often, and I will always ask the guest, usually saying "I can see you've been a memeber of the Airbnb community for x years but don't have any reviews on your profile yet. Can you please give me an idea of your travelling history with Airbnb so I can understand if my listing would be a good fit for your trip"

Every time guests come back with a very reasonable answer- usually they might travel on a partners account and this is their first solo trip, or they have been a member but haven't booked a trip yet and usually stay in hotels, and so on and so forth.

The majority of guests welcome my question- it shows the sign of a smart and sensible host, and genuine guests will always want to stay with one of those 😉

Best wishes

Paul.

@Melanie11 as @Paul1255 said, ask the guest and see what their response is. I joined airbnb in 2014 but my first booking & review as a guest wasn't until 2016 as the trips I had taken previously with Airbnb were booked by friends.
