I'm new with hosting. I've had four guest. They have all left positive reviews in my comment book and they have given me all five star evaluations but they aren't leaving public comments on Airbnb.  Is this normal?  Do others find this to be the case?

@Deborah794 Did you review all 4 of these guests? If not, their reviews of you will not be published until 14 days after checkout.

One review is currently appearing on your listing, so that's something. But if you have a comment book for guests to write in, they might feel that they've already submitted feedback and don't need to do so a second time through Airbnb.

Yes I reviews all.  I had thought about the comment book might be preventing the Airbnb reviews.  Thanks for your input

@Deborah794  You say they have rated you 5*s, but I didn't think it was possible to only rate but leave the written review field blank. Perhaps that's only true for host reviews.

I have seen comments here from hosts with guest books saying that those guests end up not leaving a public review, but it's not necessarily something that's overall true.

I'd maybe put a page in the front of the guest book letting guests know that you're really appreciative of their comments there, but that if they can find the time to also leave a public review before the 14 day review period is over, you would be very grateful. That good public written reviews help guests to be readily accepted in the future and hosts to get more bookings.

I have a guest book in the room but I find that most times guests still review on Airbnb.  Perhaps just give them a gentle reminder how important it is to you as a host.
