Scammed in Vienna

Hi I am currently experiencing this and it is horrible! I booked this apartment in Vienna and we have confirmed timing and dates, full paymet made.

On the day of arrival the host turned off their phones and we're totally uncontactable! We dialed that numbers countless times left voicemail and we were waiting in the cold for 2 hours. We had no choice but to check in att he hotel beside. After another two hours the host contacted us and asked us to cancel the reservation, for their next guest to check in!!!!!!!! They said that they cannot refund the full amount as it was me who decided to cancel!!!!!

Now they are denying that they turned off their phones and Airbnb Staffs are totally unhelpful in this issue!!! Help what am I supposed to do?????

Your posting generates some questions:

Did you contact Airbnb before deciding to book a hotel ?

How can there be "next guests to check- in" when reservation is not cancelled ? 

And when did you cancel ?

I tried calling so many time to Airbnb too and was not contactable.

That's what the host told me, they told me to cancel as soon as possible so that their next guest can check in. I was also shocked at this. 

I tied to cancel but Airbnb kept 'freezing', but according to the Airbnb Staffs whom I was able to contact later, they called back a day later, they said that it should be the host that is cancelling, not me.

I can't upload the photos, but the hosts said that "please cancel the booking so that our next guest can check in and we will refund you more"

But to me they should refund the full amount.
