Security deposit

Is it a good idea to charge a security deposit to guests?

In a big place like yours which could get used for party's, you need a large deposit to put folks off disrespecting the place.

Yes and No.  The security deposit isn't a traditional one, in that, the money for the security deposit is not collected at all, the guest has to agree that they will pay it, it isn't like a hotel security deposit where the money is put on a credit card.  However, a security deposit may have a deterent effect and at least if you have it on the listing, and outline specific types of damage it would be used for, it might help you get the money.

Great!! Really appreciate your thoughts on the matter!! Have a good one🤗

I agree with @Mark116 .  It is not perfect as the guest can shut down the booking credit card and Air BNB has no way of accessing a payment form. It is better than nothing however.
