So many security issues, multi-step verification is useless

It seems that AirBNB doesn't have many, or any securty failovers as they advertise. My wifes account was logged into by some unknown person in an unknown location without any phone or email notification or verification needed, her phone number was deleted (I verified that you can do this with no multi-step verificaion needed). They booked an apartment that seems to be a non-exitant scam site for this weekend and immediatly cancelled (with the cancelation policy allowing the owner to keep the money with no refund), cancelled our legitimae reservation and close the account all within minutes and with zero multi-step verification. Now we have to deal with our refund for the legitimate stay, rebooking it, working with our CC company to deny the charge for the fraudulent apartment. And on top of all this AirBNB klept their "service charge" for the reservation that was cancelled by the hacker. AirBNB's "customer service" department is basically doing nothing, promising an email about the "investigation" that never came. They either don't understand what we're saying, or don't care whenever we call.

Why advertise security that doesn't exist?

@Steve906

There's been a few scams going on recently.

Use related keywords in the searchbox here in CC for further details/ discussions.

All those step verifications won't stop those who know how to beat the security systems in place.

They tend to frustrate & annoy the best of us, especially if one has health issues related to use of one's fingers/ hands.

All the best
