I have a serious issue with the way the star system works on AirBnB. Any other area of hospitality you receive 5 stars for exceptional, fancy places whereas on Airbnb it's more like 5 Stars if there are no issues.
This means unless you have frequented Airbnb giving a 4 star review is a very good rating but on this site it looks as if you are doing something wrong. We just had a guest who gave us 5 stars in all areas of private feedback but put 4 as an overall experience, bringing down our overall average, when Airbnb expects a 4.7 star rating. How does that work, how are we supposed to improve on that!
As a guest I previously would give a 4 star review when I enjoyed the stay and had no negative feedback, I am only now realising as a host that this pulls down the very high expected average. This de-values 5 stars, sets impossible standards or encourages inaccurate/fake reviews for hosts to be able to achieve the expected ratings. Perhaps an average of the different feedback areas would be more accurate
Upon contacting Airbnb they were unable to give us any assistance.
