Too Many Pets

Hello:

About a month ago I had a woman request to stay in one of my two rooms for a month or more with her ferret, two dogs and four cats. I already have multiple dogs living in my home. I declined her request and told her that she is traveling with more animals than I was comfortable living in my house and asking other guests to tolerate. Today she booked instantly for about a week and informed me she plans to come four hours before my allowed check in.

I have messaged her asking her if she still plans to bring all of her pets. It has been several hours and she has not answered.

How long should I wait for her to answer before assuming she is bringing all seven pets? Would I be justified in cancelling her reservation?

I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you,

Karmen

@Karmen15  No way I would accept this reservation. What does she mean by telling you she's arriving four hours before check-in? That's not her call, at all.

Don't cancel yourself. Contact Airbnb, ask them to look at the messages you exchanged with her a month ago as well as her message informing you she told you she was going to arrive 4 hours before your check-in window and ask them to cancel this reservation penalty-free, as the guest is obviously not willing to comply with house rules or check-in time.

This guest is already a nightmare, you'll regret it if you don't kibosh this ASAP.

Thank you! I'm so glad to know I am not over reacting!

@Karmen15

as she booked "for month or more"  she may get a tenants rights (check the law in your country) and you could have a problem to evict her even if she stops paying you.

As @Sarah977  said - no way I would host her.

When Airbnb cancels her reservation then block one day in the middle of this period to prevent her to book with you again for the same dates.

Fantastic points and ideas. Thank you!
