Thank you Emiel, Airbnb told me the list it closed by now.
They will open it again in the future.
Don't do it. One of my properties was invited into the program and the experience was pure hell. Plus offered a 280€ bonus if I submitted acceptable "fixes" by February 21st. I submitted the last fixes on February 11th. By March 8 the fixes had still not been reviewed and I left the program.
Is it worth it to become Airbnb plus?
I love AirBnb and the support I receive. However, my experience with AirBnb Plus was different. Airbnb asked me to join the program. They sent a photographer to my house. He took pictures then I spent months (plus a lot of money) making the decor updates required to be in the program. Once they approved my updates (several months later) another photographer was supposed to take more photos. He never showed up. The next photographer came about one month later. A few months after that I was told my pictures were ready and I could launch AirBnb Plus so I did. My home is a lakefront property but all of the lakefront photos they took were terrible. I only received one summer booking during this time. I asked them to use my photographs and was told they would look into it. Since there was a history oh so much time passed before action was taken in the past, I sent another email saying I was going to put my account on hold until we could figure out the situation with the lakefront pictures as I was losing money so I went to the portal and read about putting the program on hold for a while which is what I clicked.
A couple days later I received an e-mail saying that since I cancelled, I would need to reapply and start the program again if I wanted to be considered.
Many thanks for sharing. Plus seems to be a minus!
Thank you.
It seems to me that Style, comfort and hospitality are the only three things that are important to Airbnb to move up from Superhost to Plus. Whilst I totally agree these are important, they should also note that the hospitality industry (at least here in the UK and with our local authorities) state that 'compliance' is the most important factor!! Unlike the rest of the industry Airbnb take no official measures to monitor health and safety, fire regs and sub letting etc, only to provide recommendations. We used to be a registered bed and breakfast and had to by law ensure we met legal requirements and had environmental compliance visits. As such when we started Airbnb out of our converted barn/annex we ensured we met all the local authority and 'Quality in Tourism' standards, however, it seems Airbnb are less interested in this than how a place perhaps 'looks' on the photos.....We would definately benefit from professional photos rather than my own ones but have I to say that the repeated 5 star scores and continued outstanding reviews about our service, comfort and quality says it all to us as do the annual returners!
