We are Hosts a Small Child

Hello,

We have a apartment in our walk-out basement.  We live on the main floor.  We have a two year old who mostly sleeps through the night and isn't really that rowdy.  We do our best to keep him quiet, especially in the morning.  But kids will be kids and there is only so much that we can do except just leave our house every morning there is a guest in the basement.

Would you put it on your listing that you have children, so you can't guarantee the place will be dead silent all the time?  How would you word it?

Hi @Lyndsay20

Yes, I'd say absolutely do put it in your listing that you have a small one and leave it at that, most people will know what to expect.

My son and daughter in law have a two year old, and they are doing Airbnb now,  private room in the house, and this was one of their worries before starting. but they soon realised that most of us human beings are hard wired to be kid friendly.

I'd say nothing to worry about if people know about the young one.

As a parent I'd say avoid a violin or drum kit for a few years just to be on the safe side 😉

@Lyndsay20 tick "Potential for noise" under "Details guests must know about your home" and describe.

Also @Lyndsay20 as an added guarantee stay of IB so you can not only vet the guests properly but also remind them about the child- si expectations etc are managed from the very beginning. This would also help in knowing who is actually staying with you- i am of course not saying that you do not vet your guests already but this would wean out any bad ones! Good luck to you! 🙂

Hi @Lyndsay20 🙂

Yes, definitely state everything that might annoy a guest so they are aware before booking. We had some construction work going on this summer in my building - new windows. So I warned my guests that there could be a bit of noise now and then in the mornings - I provided earplugs - maybe you can do that too? No one ever mentioned it or downradet me. I also have the tiniest bathroom - it is really, really mini - a classic Copenhagen bathroom. I have pictures of it and write it clearly on the listing so guests know before they book. I have seen lots of other Copenhagener hosts get slaghtered in reviews because they didn't mention it in the listing description - and guests from other countries aren't aware that bathrooms like mine is the norm in old Copenhagen apartments.

So yes, definitely mention it and maybe provide earplugs 🙂

Best, Sandra

We have under things to note

Children and animals live here. They are mostly well behaved but can be noisy.
