What constitutes a bad review for guests

I recently posted that guests left my home a mess and would not recommend him to other hosts . I charge a 175 cleaning fee for a large chalet that sleeps 10 . I list check in and checkout procedures that need to be followed . This guest followed none of them . I asked him to let me know when he was in the home , he did not I sent him multiple texts asking i

him are you in after several hours I Said if you do not respond I’m sending someone over , immediately he responded all is well ! When I arrived after he checked out I found all the lights on , heat up , dirty dishes (a lot) left in dishwasher, beer bottles left all over home , human waste left unflushed in toilet , excess trash thru out the home , every extra blanket , pillow ,sheets taken out and used went into my private area and used my things which I had asked him not to since I could not lock it do to broken lock that I needed to replace next time I was there . I just felt I should warn other hosts that I would not recommend them . After posting it he contacted me and said he was sorry and unaware of all of this , he was very nice and I felt bad for my post but yet he still did all this and I really would not want him as a guest again but I felt I could have handled it better as to not alienate him from maybe bad mouthing my home to friends .

Hi @Gino3 :

"He was sorry he was not aware of all this"? Was he not there? His other review shows that he was a good guest. Is it possible that he wasn't on site at all? It would explain the extended time answering you and the hurried "All is well" when you said you were going to check personally. I don't think your review was inappropriate in any way and his was just fine. Judging from what you found, it appears that he booked for teenagers or similar. Do you not have cameras at your listing? It really is a must for any host that doesn't live on site. The Ring Video Doorbell is awesome. You can get the first version on Amazon for only $99 and tech support and firmware/software updates are still available for it. I cannot recommend it enough. I has been a huge positive tool for me. I had an issue with some guests smoking right in the doorway of my listing NEXT the NO SMOKING Sign! Because I was able to pull screen shots from my Ring, ABB backed me up when dealing with the guests. I hope you find some resolution and possibly some cash from this situation. But again, don't sweat your review, it says just fine what other host need to know, factual, unemotional, short and simple.
