Do you have to decline or accept for it to count for your response rate? Or is messaging potential Guest also considered a response? Many times I can't Decline or Accept without more information. Thank-you.

If it's a request to book you need to either accept or decline within 24 hrs, best to do asap, to stop the clock for your response rate. If it's an enquiry all you need to do is respond to their message to stop the clock for your response rate.

How do you know if it's a Request to Book or an Inquiry? Thank-you...
@Viktoria56 It says that clearly on the page where you respond. Look to the left of the message stream or above it, I can't remember- they move things around so often. Also, when you get a notification it will say "XX Requests to Book" or "You have an Inquiry from XX" or something like that.
And a request blocks the dates, an inquiry doesn't.
Even though just messaging back an Inquiry within the 24 hours counts as a response, you will still get annoying messages from Airbnb to pre-approve the Inquiry. But you can safely ignore those and if you clear your cache they will disappear.
I think it must be different in different countries. I will look out for it and yes it gets confusing. Mine never says that the dates are blocked for some reason... always open until they pay of course... stuff I never really looked into before. Been happy with the bookings and the company in general just lately nagging questions that I've never asked so.... I will study the site more closely.
@Viktoria56 As @Andrea-and-Francis0 advised. But not necessarily ASAP on the booking request if you are trying to work things out with the guest and need to exchange a few messages to do that. You do have 24 hours to either Accept/Decline a Booking Request, so if you need more info from the guest before making that decision, best to start the dialogue ASAP, so you have time before the deadline.
