What's the difference between a reservation and a request

Hi all, very new hosts here. My notifications says I have 1 reservation and 1 request, I can see the reservation but I can't see the request. Am I missing something?

A reservation is a fully confirmed and paid up request for accommodation. You will find these under your reservations list, along with the amount you will be paid, etc..

An request is the first step usually - which you pre-approve or decline (or enter into conversation)
