Hi Airbnb and Community,
I'm a superhost and I find providing Youtube self checkin guides really useful for my guests. However as of a few days ago youtube links no longer play from within the Airbnb app. This has caused a lot of issues for my guests where I now have to pull them off the app and send the Youtube link.
Thanks,
Alex
Hiya @Alexander472 ,
Welcome to the CC. Thanks for sharing this issue with us and for capturing footage of the bug in action. I've raised it with our bug squashing team so I hope to have some more information for you soon. Does this happen in the desktop view of the platform or is mobile only?
Thanks
I can confirm that the bug is not fixed. What should happen is the when the link is click on the Airbnb mobile app, it should open up the person's Youtube app or their default browser (for example Safari). What actually happens is that the link opens within the Airbnb app and cannot play.
The fix should be simple. It just needs to open on the Youtube app or browser and not the Airbnb app or allow the video to play within the app. Other messaging apps are able to play the Youtube videos without going to the Youtube app or browser.
This issue occurs on iOS devices and from my guests' feedback, also android (but I cannot confirm personally if this issue occurs on android). On desktop browsers like MacOS and Windows 10 this is not an issue.
But with 100% certainty, Youtube video links on the iOS mobile app do not work from within the app's internal browser, rendering many of my guests in a panic.
For the past week I have had to pull the guest off the app and onto Whatsapp or Wechat to send them the youtube links.
Thanks for following up.
@Stephanie Hey Stephanie, before I posted this I actually had already called customer support. It's been over a week and no response on this.
I also have discovered that on iPad Pro 10.5 inch, there is an additional major bug.
The icon to send the "checkin link" does not react to touch on my iPad 10.5 inch running ipad 13 (beta). It opens fine on iPhone.
This is also a major issue, hope this can be resolved as a matter of urgency.
Thanks
