Yes, you make separate listings And you just have to be very careful in managing calendars so you don't double book.

For example if I live in a 3 bedroom house and want to rent out one of my bedrooms, I would make a listing for a private room.

If I want to list the same house as an entire home listing, I can. I create a 2nd listing under entire home. Again just making sure you don't end up accepting a reservation for the whole house- and the reservation overlaps with a reservation for a private room. One of the worst things you can do as a host is cancel a reservation.

We only have one listing not sure if Airbnb platform has a way to merge calendars to help prevent double booking the same listing under private room/ and entire house.
