can you host your house for both private room and entire place, depending if the host is there or not?

Hi, my fiance and i are getting ready to list our house. we want to offer both private room and entire place. We will use the private room feature when we are home and when we are gone for vacation, which we are gone a lot, we can offer the entire place. Is this allowed? do we have to make two separate listings?

Yes, you can. You do need to make two separate listing and make sure to keep on top of the calendar so you don't get double booked, i.e. block out dates on the other listing's calendar as soon as they get booked.

You don't even need to do that.  Just make the entire house variant the master listing and link private rooms to it.  The required calendar blocking will then occur automatically.
