cancellation penalties

We have two listings - ain our own house and a friend’s apartment that we manage. The friend now wants to rent their apartment permanently so has asked if we can cancel two upcoming bookings. We’ve previously had to cancel one booking in October last year. Would both listings get deactivated as a penalty or only the one with the cancellations?

Are they on the same profile or have you listed them separately?

Your friend will obviously have to pay the fines.

It's a shame they didn't tell you they were going to let it out permanently and then you could have blocked out future dates.

@Alexa32  Not sure if  both listings will be penalized, but cancellations do come with a big $$$ penalty, best to call Airbnb and see what the deal is and if you can transfer your friends listing to their profile so they can take responsibility instead of you.

I had not set the price for Carnival yet and a guest reserved for the current price. I explained to him the different price for Carnival; he then wanted to decline. Both of us are willing to decline, but both of us will receive penalty if we cancel. How do you resolve this? What is the number for Airbnb, thank you for your help, gilberto

@G23, you won't "both" receive a penalty if you "both" decline because only one of you will do the cancellation. If the guest cancels, the guest will have a monetary penalty. If the host cancels, the host will lose the ability to book the same days via AirBnB and receive a number of other penalties.

There is no way for you to both cancel. You can both *want* to cancel, but only one of you will actually do it.

To reach AirBnB, go to your Host Dashboard and choose the "Help" page.

At the bottom right of the "Help" page is a button labelled "Contact us"

Press the "Contact us" button to reach AirBnB.
