guest cancellation/no show

We're new at hosting. Had a guest reserve 2 days b4 he was going to stay. Day of stay he texted that he was cancelling. A few hours later, he sent another message asking if he could still come.  We replied that he could. Said it would be after 5pm. By 9pm he had not showed, which was our latest check-in time. I texted him to see if he was coming and he said "Sorry, no".  Unsure what to do about cancelling his reservation, should I or not?

DO NOT CANCEL HIS RESERVATION OR YOU'LL BE PENALISED!

 

The matter now rests with Airbnb and your guest, if he/she phones you for a rebate tell him/her to deal directly with Airbnb as they handle all the financial transactions under the terms of his/her contract.
