i failed my first time

i failed my first time

I go to Japan in november (in 6 months...)

I looked for a appartment and i did what all newbie will do: i only looked at the position on the map for the location.

BIG mistake...

I paid a room but after the host has validated it, he send me the adress and i read the adress...

i write it on google map and surprise...

4km from what i wanted (from the spot shown on the map!)

i didn't pay attention to the description. I recognize it was written, room is near this station etc... But you know japonese name station are all the sames to me...

Well, my fault i admit.

It was supposed to be exceptionnal vaccation well...

If i understand it i can cancel but i only get 50% back because the host set refund to "strict".

50% of my lodging budget hurts.Because i really need and will to cancel...

By any chance, is there any way to get more than only 50% refund ? (...for a 6 months prior mistake. i just don't realize it my self..)

I knew i did fell it good using air bnb for the first time...

Thanks all

@Touming0:

I would contact the host and explain the situation to him and ask him, understanding that he has a strict cancellation, but could he refund your money if you cancel since the date is still 6 months away. He has a good chance of getting it re-booked. He may refund you some or all of his payment. However, you will still lose the fees paid to Airbnb (both the fees you paid and the fees the host paid), but that is still less than 50%.

Try it, see what happens and follow up here if you don't mind.

@Touming0

if the position of the house on the map is not accurate and it is in fact 4 km away than you should be able to cancel and get your money back because the listing is misleading.

Contact ABB and ask them to cancel your reservation so you get all your money back. Here is how: https://community.airbnb.com/t5/Community-Help/Contact-Airbnb-A-Community-Help-Guide/m-p/16165/highl...
