locks

Hello,

I am a new host and I am worried for the safety of my family by letting in stragners into my home and giving them the keys to my home.

Do you provide any keyles locks so guests can come in by punching in codes? Or any other types of locks so I don't have to give away my key for security purposes?

Thank you,

Sharmine A

Many hosts use keyless locks. If you look in the Host Assist menu, you can find some options. You'll also find a selection on Amazon and at most hardware stores.

I use the Kwikset SmartCode 916 deadbolt. It works great with the Aeotec Gen5 Z-wave controller and InControlHA software and I don't pay any monty subscription fees, but it's not integrated with the Airbnb API, so I manually change the codes for each guest. If you're interested in this solution, please add a comment in support of adding Airbnb API support to InControl HA software. http://store.incontrolzwave.com/boards/topic/962/airbnb-api-and-lock-codes-by-date Thanks!

Hi, I'm a host some time ago and developer of RentingLock.com

I made it for with hosts which have problems, and we think that is some kind of innovation.
We know companies where our competitors make similar locks with simil
ar soft, but we are the only one who have e.g.:
- 100% offline locks
- integrity with channel managers
- possibility to personalise API
- we don't need power (so it can be used even in power/wifi less place)
- web application

And as I observe a smart lock market, they are little more expensive then ours.

Hi there.  Your company sounds interesting, and thanks for sharing.  I checked out your website and was a little confused- do you only offer interior door locks?  The general info seems to imply you offer external locks, and this makes the most practical sense to me at least, but in the pricing section it says exterior version coming soon.  I didn't fill out the website form b/c I didn't want to bother giving my email or getting on a call list to have my question answered, but I appreciate your help; time; information if you'd be willing to offer it here.  Thanks again!

Hi can you please contact me

thanks

The choice of a keyless option definitely depends on how much effort you want to put in & (now adays) one's technological savvy.

As a host, most locks function similarly: Guests can open and close the door with a Smart phone. The software is the real differentiator.

You could choose a software company like VirtualKEY (virtualkey.co) that integrates with multiple locks and works with airbnb (as well as other travel sites) to automatically send Guests access valid only for their specific reservation. They will even supply you with the Smart lock to get you up and running.

Being a software company, they can focus all their efforts on making the Host's life easier. Broad integrations with locks, travel sites, cleaners, & easier key transfers to friends, neighbors, baby sitters, or dog walkers. Even making the app more intuitive for older guests.

If you want to be very "active" and are comfortable balancing reservation calendars, sending access codes, and have more tech inclined guests, there are definitely more options out there. It all depends on what you want to do & how your guests respond.

I use VirtualKEY [link removed] This software supports multiple different smart locks, keypad locks and WiFi locks. It is also integrated with Airbnb, HomeAway, VRBO etc. The reservations are synced automatically and lock is programmed for the guest and house-keeper automatically. You don't have to manually generate codes or digital keys using the lock app. It saves you time and keeps things stress-free. I don't like to be worried about remembering to create codes and send emails to guests.

I also like one more feature that VirtualKEY Software provides. You can automate emails you want to send to guests like arrival instructions, request a review, guide book etc. I don't like to be worried about remembering to create codes and send emails to guests. I started offering instant booking after switching to VirtualKEY.

Does anyone here realize that not everyone uses a smart phone? (Gasp!) If the only way a guest can access your place is that they have to have a smart phone, then you may as well mention in your listing description that a smart phone is a requirement for guests.
