misleading review

Hi,

I would like to ask your help on a misleading review that someone just left for me. It's very very upsetting because we're taking this quite seriously and always make sure everyone is happy at our flat and ALL our reviews so far are very positive!

The worst is that he is ASSUMING there is a POTENTIAL danger for female travellers, although none of the reviews (even from alone female travellers) mention any bad experiences and obviously our account wouldn't even be active if anything like this would ever occur.

'**HEADS UP for Female Travelers** Me and my girlfriend stayed in Mario's apartment for 3 nights, Mario was very kind and helpful, willing to help and answer our questions, great host. Location is great, it's located right next to a metro station and close to most of the major attractions. However, we discover upon arrival that there is no door lock/ safe box in our room, as well as the bathroom, especially when the host have another unknown male friend staying in the apartment during our stay. Another issue is the hot water, the hot water didn't last long during a shower(less than 3 minutes), and we were showering in cold water for 3 nights, the host did gave us a heads up when we check in but it worse than what we had expected. We didn't see Ania (The actual host)during our stay, and we were treated by Mario( Host's boyfriend) , and after reading all the previous comments seems like the host is always away not around for her guests.'

This puts me in a very very bad position. I left a public response but don't know how to make him change his accusasions? I don't mean the hot water or safety box, but the suggestion of female travellers not being safe.

Any ideas? Please! I'm very disappointed with this, it's my first negative review, by the way I'm a superhost so it really hurts my ambitions!

I have a similar issue and would love to hear how others are handling this.

@Ania6 Sounds like this guest was bit overly paranoid.  Wonder what he thought might happen to his girlfriend.

Alas, since his review is now public neither he or Airbnb can or will edit or remove it.   Since you are a Super Host and have many guests, over time his review will fall back in line and not be so visible.

Had you asked before you left your public response, I would have advised you not to leave such a long one.  If nothing else, an extensive public response is visually an eye catcher that will grab future guest's attention.  I totally understand how outraged you feel and your need to respond in detail.  But keep in mind review responses are for future guests, not necessarily a rebuttal to a review.  I would have responded this way:

"HEAD'S UP LADIES!  Check out my reviews from my lady guests!  They loved my place!"

Short, to the point and truthful.  And makes Ying's review look stupid with all the minutae about door locks, etc.

So in short, just wait for Ying's review to disappear from the front page.  You have plenty of great reviews and you are a Super Host which counts for a lot.

Move on and enjoy the day!

Is it possible to have the response removed by host? I actually think that is more damaging that the actual review. (see Claire's comments above)

@Deborah1 Unfortunately not once it's posted publicly.
