pre approval

I sent a pre approval to a guest after his inquiry.  In the meantime I got another request to book the same dates.  Does a pre approval not block the dates?  What happens if the pre approval is declined or ignored?.  It has not been 24 hours yet since the pre approval was sent.  I can not seem to tell if it was received by the guest.  I wanted to give the first guest the chance to book before I open it up to the second inquiry.

@Jeanette141,

Pre-approval does not block the dates (but you can do it manually). You can have multiple pre-approvals, just the first one who books is the lucky person. But a Request can come in (or an Instant book), blocking the dates for the pre-approved people.

A potential guest can act on a pre-approval, but also can simply do nothing, and let it expire.

Best regards,

@Jeanette141 It's not a great idea to block dates for an inquiry, unless for some reason you really want this guest and are confident that they're serious about booking. Many guests send inquiries and even if you respond with a nice, welcoming message, you never hear from them again. It's not that they didn't like your place or your message- they may have sent out inquiries to 10 different places.

You don't have to either per-approve or decline an inquiry- all you have to do is message the guest back within 24 hours. Then, if you clear your cache, the annoying messges from Airbnb to pre-approve or decline will stop.
