refund

On January 28th my airbnbaccount was hacked and three bookings were made in my name and using my bank details. I could not get through to the airbnb emergency number that night so rang the following morning. In the meantime I phoned my bank to cancel any payments to airbnb.

I spoke to an airbnbadvisor on Jan 29th and she assured me that I would be refunded for the three booking that had been fraudulently made.

I checked my bank account today and only two of the refunds have been made. There is still £228 outstanding. I have tried to ring but am just placed in a queue for ages and cannot get through.

Jane - your bank is the first port of call for unrecognised transactions on your account. They should refund you the money while they investigate the fraud.

Worthwhile chasing AirBnB too, but it will take longer. Leave it to your bank to investigate on your behalf.

Yes I notified the bank straight away. Airbnbhave only refunded two or the three fraudulant transactions though.

Hi Jane - phone your bank and explain that only two of the fraudulent amounts have been repaid. Ask your bank to refund you the third amount while they investigate. You will probably be put through to their fraud department who will ask more questions and may send you a form to fill out and sign. You do not need to be at a loss while your bank investigates. (I have worked for banks for many years and this is the process that is followed)

Goid luck!
