We want to remove Pre-Approval option for our accommodation. It seems to be a forum where guests try to stay with extra guests above our limits, or at cheaper rates than making a direct booking. Does anyone know how to get out of Pre-Approval all together.
I was surprised AirBnB sent me a letter saying if I kept refusing bookings they'd demote me or even delist - however initially it said were were allowed to decline as long as we did it within 24 hours. Not happy with this subtle pressure.
Hi guys,
Pre approval bookings means the instant bookings? If yes, there is a lightning in your advertising that you can turn it off.
For example in my adv I turned it off so I request to the guests send me request to see if I am going to pre approve or not. It means that I can make questions before to pre approve and I can also decline without any problem.
I declined a lot of requests and I never had any problems!
I hope it was helpful! Good luck 🙂
No I think you are talking about Instant booking so sorry it has not been so helpful. Pre-approval is where the guest if the pre-approval is accepted by the host has 24 hours to automatically book. It is very much guest orientated although if they want to withdraw from the process it is not straightforward. The biggest question we ever get is how much does the accommodation cost (doe Airbnb not give them that information)?
There is not an automatic pre-approval setting. The host is the one that sends them to the potential guests. If you have instant booking in your set up is when the yellow lighting is led up on your listing. I learn when I use my iPhone or iPad it kept suggesting instant booking on my settings. I was told by Airbnb not to use tablets or phones for my set ups as I will encounter these issues. They suggested use a laptop or desktop instead and it really helped. I communicate with guests via tablets or iPhone. Hope this helps.
I would rather not have to deal with the pre-approval gadget. It's an extra thing that I don't feel is necessary. I would like an option to turn if off. I have instant booking turned on. I feel that's enough.
Even if you have instant book turned on, guests will still be able to send you inquiries through the "contact host" button - there is no option to avoid this. You either pre-approve so that they can easily book when they are ready, or you decline if you feel they are not a good match. Or you do nothing other than send a response in order to maintain your response rate.
