Avoid losing keys - key trackers besides Tile?

What are your best ways to avoid that your guest will lose the key? It would be very costly to change my lock and it seems is not covered by the deposit.

I currently use Tile pro, but it only uses Bluetooth so it cannot be tracked by Gps, it needs someone from the Tile network to be close. Any suggestions on other key trackers?

Fit a keyless lock to the front door and get rid of the keys.

I have one fitted to the front door, it replaced the existing standard deadlock and was easy to install (a Lockwood 001 Touch). The lock is not internet-connected, instead the lock can have up to 20 unique numbers entered. I made a database to manage the numbers but a spreadsheet will suffice. I send the guests the access code the day before check-in. When their stay ends I delete the code and replace it with a different one, so previous guests can never gain access again.

If people need access (say, tradespeople) I give them a code over the phone then delete it next time I'm there.

The back door uses a normal lock but guests don't need a key for that, at the start of their stay they access through the front door.

@Gustav14: We use a digital keypad lock. No keys to exchange, lose or copy. We input the guests last four numbers of their cell phone and when they leave we delete the keycode. The safest and easiest way in my opinion.

I had one of my guests accidently take the key when he left. He claimed to have mailed it back to me but it never showed up. I didnt like the idea of having my keys somewhere in an envelope with my address on . So I change the locks. I made a claim through Airbnb and had it all paid for by them.

Go to ebay or similar and have metal or wooden key tags made up with your mobile number etched on it. It works and is a cheap alternative to replacing locks with keep pads etc.

generally people are very good if they find keys - being able to call you and let you know they have found them is easy
