Book Exchange with Guests

Hi all!

I have a basket of random books -- some are mine, some I've purchased at thrift stores and such.  I have my name in them because I love my books and if someone decides to "borrow" one, they should know that it belongs to me. 🐵

I've noticed lately, that my book basket is getting bigger. Guests have been leaving their own books .. not in exchange but as a contribution to my basket.   Not every single guest but here and there.

I think that's kind of nice and unexpected and fun.

Anyone else experiencing nice things guests have left behind?

peace

Hi Kristi!

That is kind of a nice gift from them!

Your guests are from the same country most of the time ?

I began AIrbnb as an host last week, can I consider a forgotten sandwich + banana as a nice thing a guest could have left behind ? O:-)

Hopefully, in the fridge (a bit strange for the banana, I know...) , not under the bed :D...

Interested to see what guests can have left behind 😉

I've also had guests leave their extra (fresh) food when they've left. So I've brought home fruit and cheese and some great chocolate!  One guest left a gift of some wine and cheese as a thank you.

I've found charger cords, sweaters, shirts, one sock thus far. Most of them didn't care if they got their stuff back even though I offered to mail it to them.

The only thing I've mailed back to a guest was a cell phone. Poor guy left it on the dresser. I express mailed it to his house as soon as I got his address. Ugh.  Luckily it was a work phone and he was on vacation. But still.

Nothing bad has been left over.  I did giggle like a 7th grade boy when I found some "oil" on the floor by the bed.  2nd Honeymoon guests.  heheheh.  Oh well. I hope they had a good time.  🐵

peace.

@Kristi5 How nice to hear a happy story!  I thought you were going to say that they took your books and left theirs!

The only thing one of my guests left behind was a $20 tip!

We have a selection of books that guests are welcome to read. So far, guests have not added to the collection, but maybe some day. With e-readers, it's harder to find people reading physical books.

Hahaha!

I have a book exchange on a shelf in my Airbnb. I say take a book leave a book or both. Haven't noticed much action with it except all of the good books I put in the batch are gone. I think it makes guests feel special when there are small touches like books to read or whatever. I live in Portland and one of my guests took my "Pot Guide To Portland" . Probably for a souvenier!

The sweetest things I have had left behind are Origami birds from a Japanese family and a gift card to my local coffee shop from some sweet young ladies.

In the 2 years I have been hosting the most funny "gift" someone has left behind was a pair of thong panties in the pizza box! Not kidding, too **bleep** funny!

We had a wonderful couple from Wisconsin recently visit - our second guests. Upon check-out, they presented us with a wrapped 'hosting gift' - a jar of Wisconsin seasoning that is fantastic! It was very sweet and thoughtful, and makes me hope they return:-)
