Cancellation policy

Why and under what circumstances does/can Airbnb cancel a confirmed booking by a guest?

 

I had a confirmed booking and then when I was checking something else on the site, found that a booking had been cancelled by Airbnb with the message "Guest_name's booking has been cancelled by Airbnb" "Guest_name has been fully refunded. These dates are now open for rebooking"

 

This guest has 18 reviews and 4 verifications.

 

I did not even get an email from Airbnb or any message on the App stating this

@Raj0, puzzling for sure. However, it's possible that there were extenuating circumstances, and the guest requested that AirBnB make the cancellation. The main thing is that the dates are now open for re-booking.
