Cancellation

Hi --I'm new to AirBnB hosting. Last night, I received two reservation requests. But this morning, before I could respond to either of the requests, one potential guest successfully made a complete reservation that's shorter than ideal -- and shorter than the other potential guest. What's the best way to cancel the shorter reservation? One nuance is there's some overlap on the reservation dates--I don't want to be blocked from making reservations during this period. Thoughts?

Do not cancel.

You will lose your chance at Superhost status.

The dates will be blocked so the 2nd person can't book anyways.

You will have a host cancelation posted on your account which deters future bookings (especially if you are new)

The second guest may not even book, then you are left with nothing.

If the reservation is shorter than ideal, change your parameters going forward.

Just do the right thing and take the 1st person who committed.

Good business is about doing the right thing and getting good reviews.

Hopefully this shorter stay guest will be the best guest ever 🙂

Good luck

Thank you!

@Steven299 Take this as a lesson. We all want “the best” right?

I’d appreciate it if Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson came by and swept me off my feet but I’m not holding out for him.

Set your minimum stay requirements and if you want to pick and choose reservations, you’ll need to shut off instant book. That will give you the time your looking for to sort things out. Shutting off instant book will almost certainly lower your listings ranking.

Cancelling reservations is a huge red flag to future guest and its prominent in your review section.

Every single guest will see you canceled a reservation.

You are in an enviable position having multiple booking request. Some host are here crying they have no bookings and can’t figure out its because they have a raggedy couch and furniture.

‘Good luck’
