Heads up on a change that Airbnb just made in our listings: they changed the sub categories of our listings in order to make them more specific, as Lizzie also announced on the April newsletter.
1.) Unfortunately the changes they made and applied to each listing might not always be correct. I suggest you go and double check and see what it now says for your listing, and correct it, if necessary.
2.) For my own place I noticed that it now was suddenly classified as "Entire House" - which it isn't! I saw that on desktop, not mobile, as soon as I specifically clicked on it. Luckily, as before, the generic categories "entire home/apt" or "private room" are still in place when you just look for your listing on the overall pages for any town. And that is also what it still says when you click on the details for your place when on mobile. But on desktop, when you click on your own listing, the new classifications are in place, and you may not like it the way Airbnb just did it. I certainly was not pleased to find my place suddenly listed as "entire house": that is misleading. While it is an entirely separated place from our own living quarters, it surely is not the entire house!
So I went into my listing, had to find where exactly to change it, but I did, and I changed it from "entire house" to "entire guest suite" , which makes me much more comfortable.
3.) Makes me also wonder how many hosts are as diligent and fast regarding changes as I am? Luckily I saw it right away and changed the newly implemented classification by Airbnb back to something more accurate before any guest might possibly say I had misrepresented my space. But what about other hosts whose listings might now also get mis-classified by Airbnb in their attempt to be more specific, and they are not aware of it?
