hi tanis! I am in europe and just had an incident with a broken window. although I had 200€ deposit, airbnb employees explained to me it makes no difference.
btw, they wanted a written document from the glass professional stating how that window broke (which nobody does for free obviously). now I had to cover a guest’s damage of a broke window, meaning 130€, plus received a bad review (4 stars, all the other 26 guests gave me 5 😉 and btw airbnbcosed my case without covering the damage. to the point: security deposit or not makes no difference, once damage is done to your property. when this happens they have only one and the same procedure for everybody.
