Editing a comment I made

I replied to a review and then wanted to edit it and could not.  This was most alarming.  I wanted to reword it, but could not do so.  I think this needs revision so hosts can edit within a certain period of time if 'submit' is pushed too quickly. As a host,  I would appreciate any feedback.  Thank you.

Hi Mary-Joan, actually you can edit a review you have written! You have 48 hours to edit your review....but only as long as the other party has not submitted their review of you. Once both reviews have been received they are simultaneously posted on each others page, and no further editing can take place.

If it was a public response to a review, you have months to be able to think about what to say to the review you have received, and Mary-Joan I always suggest that a review response should always be written in 'Word' or another word program so you can read it and re-read it and make whatever alterations you want to it until you are totally happy with what you have written....it reflects everything you want to say. At that point copy it and paste into the public review response box and hit submit! You will then be sure it is accurate and correct!

It is important that you take all care in the review system because once you have posted it you are stuck with it and, Airbnb do that so as to keep the review process authentic. We would all like to change something once we have seen what the other person has written, but then it becomes non genuine.

Also, so often we see posts where the guest (in their haste) gave the host 1 star when they meant to give 5. Too late I am afraid, you have to be careful.

Even if you allowed a revision time of only 5 minutes, that would be too much because it would enable the writer to alter their genuine thoughts to address someone elses comments....and then it becomes worthless!

Cheers......Rob
