We are about to add a few extra rooms to one of our environments (er-- a house), and are looking for an attachable device that will allow guests to lock their room from the outside if they wish.
I see many, many solutions for locking a room from the inside, including portable devices labeled as "for Airbnb travellers." However, I see nothing designed to allow locking from the outside (though, you'd think that would be a no-brainer!).
Does anyone know of such a device?
Finally, a little background: we're restoring the house, piece by piece, and the doors have mortice devices cicra 1890. We don't want to alter the doors significantly or change that, but refurbishing the locks (on our list of 200 top priorities) has not been trivial. With three rooms occupied at most, not a big deal-- most of our guests leave their room doors open when away, and we work hard to allow trust. WIth potentially 6 rooms on two floors in a property, I don't think that works anymore and people really need to be able to externally lock the door if they wish-- but I don't want anything cheap, non-elegant, or that requires more than a few screws into 120+ year old hardwood doors.
