In our first month as Airbnb hosts, we have already entertained 11 families and groups. Going to sites like Twitter and Facebook can give you the idea that there are a lot of horrible people out there.
As Airbnb hosts for Tatiana’s at Terrigal, we’ve found the opposite to be true. Our guests whether young, old or in between have been brilliant. They are all friendly, courteous, tidy and peaceful.
@Harry-and-Tatiana0 Not all hosts and guests post how happy they are, unlike you 😄 The worst thing that has happened to me in 2 years is having a slightly annoying guest every once in a while. I would think that is true with most but given all the different people, cultures, spaces, there is probably going to be a bump in the road.
Actually, I find it helpful to me to read about other host issues and some host precautions about these issues. I have learned a lot on this site.
Good luck and keep your wonderful positive attitude!
Every one is always great Host and guest what we have to learn is every one comes from all kind of life and we as Host have to respect each other as will as guest remember this is not personal is a job as well as a life style
In almost 5 years of hosting and over 1,000 stays I am DELIGHTED to share that 99.9% of our experiences have been fantastic! We have had WONDERFUL guests--great about communication, polite, appreciative, considerate, and pretty tidy if not candidates for housekeeper of the year. If it weren't for these AWESOME individuals staying with us, we'd have quit a long time ago bc the handful we've had that haven't been among of them, they've been a downright PITA.
BTW, I lived in the Newcastle area during HS and for a few years afterwards before moving to the US. Central Coast NSW is GORGEOUS!!
Agree that most guests are great.... until you meet one that's not 🙂 You only need one bad guest to leave you wondering about basic manners, common sense and human decency.
Kind of like hearing about car accidents on the news. Most people are good responsible drivers so most of us don't realize my luck ran out today and there's crazy drunk driver at the wheel of the car behind me heading towards my car at full speed before it's too late.
I've been hosting for almost two years and the vast majority of my guests are lovely and it is a pleasure getting to know them.
Unfortunately I have had about three guests during this time that make me question hosting guests in my home. Luckily each time I have welcomed lovely guests straight after these experiences which has restored my faith in people!
You have to be prepared as a host to speak to your guests during their stay about something they should not be doing, or if you feel uncomfortable with something they have done. You should never feel uncomfortable in your own home.
My biggest bug bears? Guests not reading the information that as a host I have taken the time to provide on my listing page, and guests thinking it is ok to check out late without speaking to me first, rude!
Your commnets were really helful.
However, as my 1st time hosting, I want to see reviews my guest has received and I dont know how to get it? I also have no idea how to contact anyone at airbnb? I thought we could get help always and yet there is not cintact us section or anything....
Do you know how to go about any of the above?
Thank you
Nikki
@Nikki97 Hi, you should be able to see the guests reviews by clicking on their name/location.
If you want to contact Airbnb regarding a particular booking, open the booking, scroll down to help/reservation number, open this up, contact button is at the bottom, you can either message or call.
If it's about something else, go to your profile, scroll to help section and follow the instructions.
Thank you so much. I did click on his photo and showed no reviews so assume there are none. He has id verification so I hope all ok.
It is fantastic to hear you are enjoying hosting so much @Harry-and-Tatiana0 and you have already welcomed so many fantastic guests. Thanks you so much for sharing your positive experience here and I wish you a amazing time ahead.
I hope you will continue to explore the Community Center and share your experiences, it will be great to hear more from you. 🙂

Thank you for your comments. We have been hosting just a short time and for the most part our guests have been Great. We have enjoied getting to know them and welcoming them in our home. So far we have had 1 guest that left a lot to be desired. Full of complaints and "constructive criticizme." He even admited that he did not read the whole discription, saying "nobody reads all of it"
ALL of the others have been friendly, appreciative, neat and great to be with.
I am reluctunt to give this 1 guest any review, even a nice one for fear he will give us a bad review because of our location. I don't want my Superhost status to be affected.
I appreciate having this Community to lean on to hear what others experiance.
Hi
we started hosting at the end of April 2017 and have had 41 guests. Most are couples who want to get away from New York City for the weekend and spend some time in nature. We've had anniversaries. Birthdays. And two honeymoons. So far it's been an amazing experience. Thanks for sharing your experince
Same here, after 3+ years, I have only encountered 3 guests that I don't care to see again, but they were a Godsend because they served to remind to change my description to eliminate their types in the future.
@Joanne-Flynn0There you are, I lost the thread we were on talking about where you live (Phoenicia, NY) where I spend all my kid summers till had to go into the military; they did have a draft those days. Our first cabin was by the little lake up Woodland Valley, we rented it from the Hallenbecks, the old mill owner. Then had one for decades that is on the first creek, on the right hidden above the road. Still there, my sisters went back a few years ago, and was still there. Awesome summers.
Collection of money from guests will be cash?
@Mohamed137 I am not sure entirely what you are asking, but in general you should not handle any payments directly with guests from Airbnb.
All matters of payments and money should go through the Airbnb system for guest who book through Airbnb.
You are, of course, fee to receive guests on your own or through other means, but then the guest and stay have nothing to do with Airbnb, and Airbnb cannot help you.
