Guest booked but did not cancel--now I've been paid

I had a guest book for three nights.  I messaged her four days prior to her arrival and she responded by saying she would not be making the trip.  I told her she'd need to cancel her reservation.  She didn't.  Now I've received a payout and don't feel good about this, even though her failure to cancel means that other guests couldn't book in her place.

Your thoughts?

I wouldn't feel bad. It was her choice to not cancel and, as you said, her booking left your listing unavailable for the dates.

Also, since your listing uses the Moderate cancellation policy, 4 days in advance was too late for her to cancel anyway. (The cutoff is 5 days.)

All that said, for cancellations, you *do* have the option of refunding any/all of the guest's charges except for their AirBnB service fee.

If that helped, hit the thumbs-up button below.
