Guests with too few reviews

Hi, I'd like some advice. I always look to see if guests have been verified and reviewed. However, if you have a person who says they have been to lots of airbnb stays, and yet have only one (short, positive) review, should that ring alarm bells. I mean, why would the others have not reviewed them. Does that mean they dont leave reviews so dont get them back? Or is there a geographic thing, as their others are all foreign countries.

The only people I have had so far who did not leave a review, also treated the place with less respect than most, though not in a way you could complain about, just left it like the maid was coming in to clear up after them.

So, Im a bit concerned. Should I be?

Julie

@Julie62 The lack of reviews in and of itself wouldn't bother me.  I've had great guests who had few or none and were great.  The fact that this guest said he had stayed at Airbnb places many times yet only had 1 review would present somewhat of a red flag.  There are hosts out there that unfortunately would prefer not to leave a review at all to avoid writing a bad one.  If you want to spend the time, you could inquire more about his stays (how many, where, did he enjoy his stay, does he have special requirements?). Did he give you a reasonable reason for staying at your place? Has he told you what his plans are?  You can also look at the listing that did leave a review to see what type of place it was.

The bottom line is that you feel comfortable.  Its your business and you have to make a decision that is right for you.  That's all I can tell you without looking at his profile myself.
