Congratulations to you!
I would allow reservations up to the time I felt comfortable taking them and then blocking my calendar for as many days I needed around the birth date. I wouldn't count on having a baby constituting an extenuating circumstance since it isn't an unforseen event, like a gas leak, earthquake, pipes bursting, etc.
Cancelling a confirmed reservation really screws up guest's plans and may cost them extra in terms of booked flights or other prepaid items (concerts, sporting events, etc). Airbnb only refunds the reservation amount plus 10% for the inconvenience, but that doesn't necessarily cover all their expenses. That's why host cancellations are penalized so severly..I assume you know what the penaties are, yes?
You certainly can ask Airbnb if having a baby is an extenuating circumstance, but I doubt it.
Good luck with your baby! Girl or Boy?
