If I ignore a pre approval request does that affect my response rate score?
I have a question for a potential guest which they have not responded to yet. I don't feel comfortable pre approving before a response from them. (they have been a member for 8 months and have no reviews from previous host stays, I would like to know if they have used Airbnb as a guest yet)
Hi Laurie
So you have a reservation request which you have not sent a pre-approval for?
I had an enquiry that sounds similar to yours. In that he was:
New to airbnb
With no reviews
No photo id
No verifications.
I just went a head a declined it with the reason that I was uncomfortable with the guest as there was no verifications or personal photo on his profile.
I did message the guest several times. The first time was a verbal acceptance on the condition he update his profile accordingly...a few hours later I declined and messaged him to re-apply once his profile was completed (that’s a long story short version).
There is a wealth of information in help.

@Laurie18 The key to this question is: was it a reservation inquiry or reservation request? Sounds like you got an inquiry. Responding to the inquiry within 24 hours satisfies as a response, although Airbnb wants you to send a pre-approval. if you need more information from the guest, just ask and you'll be ok.

Thanks ladies, I did finally hear back from my potential guest. She has used airbnb once last summer. I think she didn't follow the check out process correctly and reviews were not posted. I feel better about having her stay now. It's good to hear back from some airbnb veterans out there. Appreciate it!!
(It was an inquiry Clare)
