Long stay guests made extra keys for cleaning lady without consent

Hi everybody,

I have guests that are staying for 31 days. From the start they asked for two set of keys and remotes as the two guests are working during their stay and do not leave or arrive at the same time every day.

Upon check in I gave them two sets of keys and remotes.

The flat is serviced once a week by myself.

They inquired if they can use their own cleaning staff to do their laundry. I agreed to it but as their cleaning staff is not registered with the Body Corporate of the property, they will be responsible to let them in in the morning and open again in the afternoon. If not, then it would be a security risk for us.

This morning it came to my attention that they cut a extra set of keys for the cleaning staff and that the staff take the keys home with them.

The guests did not inform me of this and it is a huge concern and security risk for us.

Any suggestions on how to handle the situation and address it with the guests?

Seems like I will have to investigate alternative locks.

@Danelle7

The extra set of keys must be returned to you, to prevent other people except your guest entering your property. If the "other" cleaning staff is going to clean the property, it must be validated by you, including providing a set of keys.

@Danelle7  These guests totally overstepped and violated your trust. Even if they get the keys back from the cleaning people, you have no way of knowing if the cleaners make copies before returning them. I'd almost think you need to get the locks changed and charge the guests for that.
